I really feel there are trends with this program regarding the way things spin out that I no longer feel comfortable sending notes I have done for years to Aaron alone. Anderson is a bit brutal in his approach to interviewing and gets results but there are issues of 'Lynch Mob' insistance that is taking shape. On the seven o'clock hour Anderson calls on his staff to agree with him as if they weren't going to in raising a consensus of opinion for him to continue to play 'Hero to the People.'
That to me is not journalism. It's 'rabble rousing. A synonym for 'rabble rousing' is demigogue. It's a 'social directive' Anderson pursues regularly. It is dangerous. If people get the idea they can grow a concensus on any subject to achieve justice it will take on anarchic status and could lead to civil unrest.
The people that lined up this agenda of Anderson Cooper aren't very good at doing anything except cause problems while snubbing their noses at real journalism. CBS, NBC and ABC, look out, I guess.
I am going to journey into PERHAPS odd territory in that I haven't read the book "Justice on the Grass" which is about three Rwandan journalists who did exactly what Anderson Cooper 360 is doing. I don't know how benign this all started and perhaps it does not relay this even in the book but what concerns me is that no matter how benign a news or media program seems to be what happens in society as a result of the permission it gives should be of concern to everyone. Now, everyone who reads this will say, 'she really is over the top on this.' They would be absolutely right. No one is telling anyone who is viewing any of Anderson's hours to go out and do anything. HOWEVER. There is a concensus issue that is rounded out in a way that is similar to a spiritual revival.
I'm going to venture into no man's land here for a minute. Indulge myself. What does it take to start genocide? Is it a matter of a general waking up one day and saying, "Today is the day I am going to commit genocide and get rid of those Tutsis.?" No. It happens gradually and through consensus.
Considering the 'emotional' agenda of the 'rightish' channels on the dial this can result in a cascade we don't want to start. I was unsettled the other day in the way Reverend Jessie Jackson was treated. I was concerned but never wrote anything last night when Anderson's 7:00 hour crew took up chanting to Anderson's vigilante question that went like this:

These are notes but they aren't what I used to do. I'm mostly keeping track of equity although there is gross inequity in the fact Anderson is marketed over Aaron's autonomy of programming. I feel compelled to do this as a warning to issues of social trending that looks troublesome at it's beginnings.

All of the other times I've seen the tape I couldn't hear the audio as well. …. Police officer has no right to hit you. That's true. The police officers have been indicted for battery. Anderson to the rescue and good cop and bad copping Mr. Bruno. To ahead Anderson try the case now. Aaron- "It looks as though he is not fully cooperative." Neither was rodney king when he thought he was going to die. "Predatory Mode" - these guys were like flint. I agree. Stop, doesn't stop, then your under arrest for not stopping, etc. Mr. Bruno is correct. WE AREN'T SUPPOSED TO BE LIVING IN A POLICE STATE.

He had to come into compliance. I don't think citizens are briefed on how to behave in arrest circumstances. What falls away on the pavement? A cell phone?
