Off to a discriminatory start

After virtually no mention of NewsNight with Aaron Brown on Friday as Cooper wasn't part of the program we are off to the promotion at 5:17 am. Also absent on Friday was an e-mail from
Aaron because Anderson has never sent e-mails for the women falling at his feet and therefore that 'mess' has fallen on NewsNight as well.

5;47 AM "Aaron Brown and Anderson Cooper on NewsNight"

7:15 AM ditto

7:52 AM "Anderson Cooper on 360 tonight at 7PM"

8:16 AM "Aaron Brown and Anderson Cooper tonight on NewsNight"

9:19 AM "Two - Two - Two - Aaron Brown and Anderson Cooper tonight on NewsNight at Ten"

Off until this evening. I occassionally try to conduct somewhat of a personal life.

8:27 PM No email from Aaron. No personal pre-programming announcement. The liars at CNN state 'All New' at 10PM. There is no statement to who the anchor is while the billing for the announcement state Aaron's name appropriately first on the same status as Anderson Cooper who continues to have four hours of exposure per day where Aaron has not his own single hour. It's horrible. The management is horrible. They don't care about me or hold any loyalty except to their agenda.

They are trying to make 'generic' their programming by not assigning 'personalities' to their programming this time. AC 360, NewsNight.

The Politics of Energy: Oil & Gas
How a gusher of giveaways to oil and gas industry was crafted in Congress
By
Bob Williams and Kevin Bogardus
WASHINGTON, December 15, 2003 — The sweeping energy bill now pending in Congress offers a geyser of new tax breaks and other government goodies for energy companies and related industries. Although the 1,200-page bill stalled out in the Senate in November, legislative backers have sworn to revive it early in the 2004 session of Congress.
Not surprisingly, the well-connected oil and gas industry—which has been among the leading contributors to the presidential campaigns of George W. Bush, as well as other Republican candidates and political committees—stands to reap the biggest bonanza should the legislation eventually become law.
Since 1998, oil, gas and related services companies on the Fortune 1000 list gave $13.9 million to Republicans, compared to $3.2 million to Democrats—a ratio of more than four-to-one—according to figures compiled by the Center for Public Integrity.
In many ways, the $30 billion energy legislation is a classic example of money, influence and hardball politics at their worst—or best—depending on your point of view. Sen. John McCain, an Arizona Republican who helped Democrats temporarily sink the Republican-written legislation in November, dryly dubbed it "the No-Lobbyist-Left-Behind Act."

MINISTRY TO RESTRICT FOREIGN ACCESS TO SHELF
Foreign companies will be allowed to produce oil and gas from the Russian shelf only if they have invested in Russia more than their competitors. But even these companies will not be able to operate independently - such firms will have to join together with a Russian company who will have controlling interest in the joint venture.
Minister for Natural Resources Yury Trutnev has unveiled these conditions for non-residents wishing to work the shelf. He said if standard auction rules were applied to shelf development, Russian companies would have no chance at all, because Western companies have investment portfolios tens of times bigger.
Foreigners must not be given control over shelf deposits, agrees an official from the presidential administration, because that will distort things.
The Russian minister's proposals have left foreign investors puzzled. Alexander Levshov, of Norway's Statoil, said his company was interested in shelf projects in Russia, but their decision would depend on how attractive and competitive they are compared with world shelf projects. Statoil, he said, produces oil in the Gulf of Mexico, and offshore in Brazil, Angola and Azerbaijan. In the latter case the state has less than a 50% stake in the public national oil company.
Shell-Russia's concern chairman John Barry says they work the Salym deposit in Western Siberia with Russian company Evikhon on a parity basis, and neither one has a controlling interest.
The ministry is adopting an increasingly tough stance on foreign investors, says Valery Nesterov, an analyst with Troika Dialog brokerage. But he is certain that foreigners would gladly develop the Russian shelf, which is among the largest in the world.
Vladimir Milov, president of the Energy Policy Institute, calls the official requirements "strange and senseless." "The companies that have invested in Russia can be counted on the fingers of one hand [ConocoPhillips, ExxonMobil, Shell, Total and BP]. Why automatically cut off the rest?" the expert is perplexed.
