Lisa Steinberg
Birth:
May. 14, 1981
Death:
Nov. 4, 1987
Murder Victim. She died of extreme child abuse and torture over several years at the hands of her adoptive father, Joel Barnet Steinberg. Both Joel and his live-in common law wife, Hedda Nussbaum, neglected the girl, and it was the subsequent death of Lisa that forced changes in how New York City officials handled both adoptions and child abuse reports. Lisa was born in Manhattan, New York, to Michele Launders, an unmarried college student, who gave her up for adoption. She was adopted shortly after her birth by Joel Steinberg and Hedda Nussbaum, who named her Elizabeth Steinberg (nickname Lisa).

Christina Amanpour on patrol with Iraqi forces. A training unit with American military. "We are here to fight the insurgents." Oh, I see this is important because with the success of the American training unit then they get to go home. Talk about being held hostage.
James Wells holds little optimism for his success in training Iraqi forces during his time in Iraq. He actually believes he is going home rather than being redeployed for half his life?
Insurgents have killed more Iraqi soldiers this year than last year. I see. There are probably more Iraqi soldier this year taking on the combat positions of their government. That would cause higher causalities among the Iraqi soldiers. Are we going to keep track of Iraqi soldier deaths after we leave as well, regretting every one? I don't think so. This is not our business. See, the Iraqi soldiers and the insurgents are both Iraqis. It's a civil war. Who is to say which side of this conflict we should be on? The one that protects Halliburton? I don't think so.

Capt. Moffat and Baquba THE Props are interesting. A bombed out car, the description of a human intestines on the hood of Capt. Moffet's vehicle and Anderson armed with a camera. Goss, give me chills. The military couldn't prevent that suicide bombing, huh? You didn't say how many people died besides the guy who lost his guts all over the Captains vehicle.
An American Unit and a CNN film crew among the citizens of Baquba with people stating they aren't going to vote. Oh.

At least with Vietnam the journalists were on the same side the majority of the country was on. This is darn shame.

Baquba Airfield
33°45'00"N 044°38'28"E
Baquba Airfield is located approximately 35-45 miles northeast of Baghdad.
Camp Boom
Camp Boom was a base formerly occupied by Saddam's 41st Armored Brigade of the Republican Guard Al Nida Division. When the regime fell, the troops the 41st left the compound and blended into the local population. Anything that could be looted, was - including missiles, artillery, hand grenades and guns. The Iraqis destroyed anything that they could not take with them.
Living conditions for American troops at Camp Boom were basic. There was no air conditioning, no plumbing, and no privacy. Sand the consistency of moon dust damaged equipment. The shells of the dilapidated barracks offered no relief from the searing heat.
By late June 2003 elements of the 4th Infantry Division and Task Force Ironhorse were operating from Camp Boom, near Baqouba, 35 miles northeast of Baghdad. US forces kicked off a massive sweep 29 June 2003 with more than 20 lightening raids in towns across a wide swath of Iraq, netting at least 60 suspects in a show of air and infantry power designed to crush resistance and stem a wave of deadly attacks on US troops. The operation, dubbed "Sidewinder," began across an area of central Iraq stretching from the Iranian border to the areas north of Baghdad, and is expected to last for several days, according to military officials in Camp Boom, near Baqouba, 50 kilometers (35 miles) northeast of Baghdad. There were no reports of U.S. casualties, the military said, nor was there any indication that the operation had netted any of Iraq's most wanted fugitives.

43 dead in Iraq suicide bombings
Wednesday December 07, 2005 (1011 PST)
BAGHDAD: Two men strapped with explosives detonated themselves at Baghdad’s police academy on Tuesday, killing at least 43 people and wounding 73 more, officials said, while al-Jazeera broadcast an insurgent video of a man purported to be a US security consultant.
The men were wearing explosives-laden vests and a US contractor was among those wounded, a US military statement said. The US forces rushed to the scene to provide assistance, the statement added. The military retracted an earlier statement that the bombers were women.

Anderson onto New Orleans and the Gulf. e-mails to Governor Blanco. Her attire in the midst of her pleadings to the Congress. The staff as worried about her 'image.'
She took lessons for from Bush and Michael Brown. I noted that a long time ago. She was marketing herself the entire time to mirror Bush's moves during the post Katrina time. I am sure her staff was told to do same so there could be no more criticism of her than the Bush administration got. See the people who 'deal with' the Bush Administration know what they are up against with Rove chronically 'eyeing' the advantage of image of this administration. We don't have to review the Michael Brown e-mails do we? I picked this up long before any e-mails were put forward. The Democrats at all levels are embattled with this administration and struggle with that as part of this administration. This is a surprise? Not at all. This is the type of issue Bush creates that diverts those in government away from there tasks to some extent IN ORDER to do their jobs they were elected. Democrats are always under attack. How often is Bush ever 'in the camera lens' with a Democrat? Not very often. It causes him pain. It causes Rove more pain. You know I find it odd that the people Rove and Libby spoke to about Wilson and Plame were journalists and not other elected officials like Democrats. Interesting, isn't it?

The Palestine Bombing in October. There was a mimicked bombing after that deployed in the same manner with about the same result. Yes, Anderson, we all know the insurgents learn by experience and what works. That is what is also amazing. The American military has to know through it's experience that this is a known capacity of this 'insurgency.' They learn and become innovative and then succeed to kill when the American military personnel don't expect it. I don't understand why the military don't expect it. What is more astounding is that the American military don't head it off. Why? It is what also makes it completely obvious the American forces are completely defensive. Their attacks into the interior of Iraq is in response to escalation of 'insurgency.' There is no preventing the violence. I mean the reason isn't stated here. Why, Anderson, does the military have the issues of defensiveness rather than anticipating this escalation? I think it is because they don't understand their enemy and 'learn by doing ' as well. That is not a competent military in a guerrilla environment.
And Anderson stands in a vehicle parking lot discussing the elections and reconstruction in An Albar and how proud everyone is to be a part of that. I am sure the oil dependant coalition members are proud the USA military are a part of it, too. Brits, Australia, they are all dependant on oil for their economies and why Blair is stating the goals for Kyoto are difficult. KNOCK IT OFF. We need to stop warring with these people to feed an oil habit.
Mission Accomplished
Big Oil's occupation of Iraq
The Bush administration’s covert plan to help energy companies steal Iraq’s oil could be just weeks away from fruition, and the implications are staggering: continued price-gouging by Big Oil, increased subjugation of the Iraqi people, more U.S. troops in Iraq, and a greater likelihood for a U.S. invasion of Iran.
That’s just for starters.
The administration’s challenge has been how to transfer Iraq’s oil assets to private companies under the cloak of legitimacy, yet simultaneously keep prices inflated.
But Bush & Co. and their Big Oil cronies might have found a simple yet devious solution: production sharing agreements (PSAs).

An Increasingly Aerial War
Commentary: You wouldn't know it from the media, but the American air campaign in Iraq is on the rise.
By Dahr Jamail
December 13, 2005
When the air war shows up at all in our press, it is never as a campaign, but as scattered bare-bones reports of individual attacks on specific targets, almost invariably based on military announcements. A typical example was reported by Reuters on December 4th: "Two U.S. Air Force F-16 jets dropped laser-guided bombs" which, according to a military spokesperson, killed two "insurgents" after they attacked an army patrol near Balad, 37 miles west of Baghdad. On the same day, Reuters reported that "a woman and two children" were "wounded when U.S. forces conducted an air strike, bombing two houses in Baiji, 180 km (112 miles) north of Baghdad."
And even this minimalist version of the American air war rarely makes it into large media outlets in the U.S.

Oil prices hold just below $60, eyeing upside
SYDNEY: Oil prices paused below $60 in early Tuesday trading, but analysts expected fresh upward assaults as an extended chill in the U.S. Northeast fires demand in the world's biggest heating oil market.
U.S. crude was down 12 cents or 0.2 percent at $59.79, having briefly hit $60.80 in New York on Monday, its highest level since Nov. 4. Prices are up about $4 over the past week as the delayed onslaught of winter finally bites.
''We're now seeing the long-awaited cold snap and even some snow storms in the United States,'' said Gerard Burg, minerals and energy economist at the National Australia Bank in Melbourne.

Environmental impact of oil blaze
We're confident they can contain the waters from putting the fire out
Colin Chiverton, Environment Agency
As always when large quantities of a substance like oil are involved, the depot fire at Buncefield holds the potential to cause environmental damage.
However, there is little sign of any impact so far.
Compared with the oil-well fires which raged in Iraq during its turbulent recent history, the quantities involved at Buncefield are small.
"It's similar, except there's only one location and fires will burn for a short time," said Professor Ian Colbeck, from Essex University, who worked on the Iraq fires.

Nice lead in Heidi. Two 'home' segments featuring women moving through a commerical break into 'women soldiers in Iraq.' I am sure the women in the previous segments belong in the military. One parachutes and the other one is pathetically lost in 'lack of structure' a military career could improve for her. It's called 'harnessing the heart of vulnerability of women.'
commercials. Love it. Commericals about women followed by a male voice promoting computer games. The kind of games the USA military uses to promote it's training. Representative Murtha. He's a nice man. He cares about the military and this country in a way that Bush could never care. "I am saying they will no longer kill Americans and allow more stability. The Iraqis need to work this insurgency themselves." Exactly. THERE WILL NEVER be an Iraq military to take over the role of the USA military in Iraq. Never. They were never much of a military before the invasion. Get over it, Heidi, Rep. Murtha is right. He has been through this and Bush never has. Bush was a glorified 'fly boy' in the Air National Guard. We don't WANT Iraq to be a 'Military Little America.' That should never happen. That is putting a huge military presence in the Middle East. Allawi and Chalabi don't mind killing for economic advantage. What happens to Kuwait next time? What guarantees that we could thwart an Americanized Iraqi military? Nothing. I have no doubt the current leaders in Iraq want an American like military. No doubt. It should never happen.

It is why the American dead are escalating. Do you all understand how no military promotion will change the way I see this? This is propaganda to gain support for the Bush Administration. There is NEVER any dialogue about LEAVING Iraq. There is never dialogue about the 'goals' of this Commander and Chief in Iraq and when enough is enough. Enough is never enough. It goes on forever. I don't think so. That, in Iraq, as opposed to South Korea, will enhance al Qaeda's position while it regains strength through the Taliban in Afghanistan. Bush has it all backwards.

WE went into Iraq to disarm that country. Not to retool it. We went to remove weapons of mass destruction that could supposedly harm this country in a 'Mushroom Cloud' any day, any time. We didn't go to Iraq to grow an insurgency, instill al Qaeda and provide Chalibi with a world class military.

A return to 'The Death Sentence' in the USA. Mr. Williams should never have been executed. The Governator was looking for emotional capacity from Tookie that he never knew. He was hardened. He wrote children books to 'tough guys' to stop being tough guys. The assessment of these circumstances was never correct. What makes anyone 'think' that the readership of Tookie Williams was higher than the sixth grade regardless of their age. I am confident he had many adult readers. The capacity for Tookie to reach these people was grossly underestimated.
