The history of the retired generals with the active military is entangled. All the 'talking head' paid television generals could not provide any perspective without their 'internal active military' contacts. Their opinons are not valid simply because they 'provide' commercial salesmanship and not an advisory perspective. CNN promotes oil and military interests as well as Arab stockholders, their paid advisors will reflect those priorities.
A classic example of the relationship of the retired to the active military was revealed in the accident of the USS Greenville.

During the same period, detainee Mohammed al-Kahtani suffered from what Army investigators have called "degrading and abusive" treatment by soldiers who were following the interrogation plan Rumsfeld had approved. Kahtani was forced to stand naked in front of a female interrogator, was accused of being a homosexual, and was forced to wear women's underwear and to perform "dog tricks" on a leash. He received 18-to-20-hour interrogations during 48 of 54 days.
Little more than two years later, during an investigation into the mistreatment of prisoners at Guantánamo, Rumsfeld expressed puzzlement at the notion that his policies had caused the abuse. "He was going, 'My God, you know, did I authorize putting a bra and underwear on this guy's head?'" recalled Lt. Gen. Randall M. Schmidt, an investigator who interviewed Rumsfeld twice in early 2005.

KAYE: Peter Myers is not Molly's father. He is her owner. Molly is a black cat. She was on mouse patrol inside Myers' deli when she slipped through a crack in the wall. Thirteen days have passed since. A massive effort is under way to save her.
UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: Molly, we hear you. Everybody wants you come out. We're not going to hurt you. Molly, please.
KAYE: Molly's still meowing. We heard it through the wall for ourselves late Thursday night. The landmark building was built in 1849. So tearing down a wall to reach her could weaken it. Are you concerned at all about the cat's condition?
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Yeah we're concerned about dehydration at this point. I still think he's in fairly decent shape. But we're starting to get into a critical time.
KAYE: They tried cat food, cages, still nothing. To catch a cat, you have to get creative. So animal control brought in a handful of kittens like this one. This is Kissy and she's just about five weeks old. They put them all inside one of the holes in the building hoping that the cat Molly would hear their cries and come to them. But after 35 minutes, still no Molly. A tiny video camera attached to a plumber's snake gave rescuers a glimpse of Molly Wednesday.
SCHERMER: When we saw Molly, we saw the perfect outline of two eyes, a, you know, curving down nose the way those do and Mike, who is from animal control saw whiskers. KAYE: But just how far should the city go to save Molly?
PETER FOGES, ONLOOKER: Well I think they should knock the house down. And I think it would be wonderful if they did something really miraculous and saved this little cat.
KAYE: Molly's owner is convinced she's enjoying the spotlight.
MYERS: I'm beginning to think that she's enjoying this and she's -- she's in the back of his building loving it is all. KAYE: Still, Myers, who has seen the return of mice to his shop since his faithful feline disappeared hopes Molly is home soon. Randi Kaye, CNN, New York.

The 'child' issues are the 'empathy' segments seeking control over issues people do have control over. The terror segments and a stalking serial killer at the issues of fear and lack of control; the victimizing segments. It keeps the viewer off balance while trying to struggle with the 'control' issue.
The 'parenting empathy' secures the emotional transition to the helpless segments. Now, feeling like a real victim anything Anderson says go because 'The Predator' has control. He has connections to the power in the White House.

The 28th annual National Hurricane Conference is officially underway
Orlando, Florida - Weather experts from around the country have gathered in Orlando. And of course that includes our own Chief Meteorologist Dick Fletcher.
The conference is three days long with the opening session taking place earlier this afternoon. The first speaker was Max Mayfield, the director of the National Hurricane Center in Miami. Right off the bat, he set a very ominous tone for this season. We all thought we saw the worst that it could be last year. Max wanted us to change that mindset.
Max Mayfield:"It could never be worse as far as deaths and damage than we had last year. And today I'm hoping to convince you otherwise."
Mayfield basically wanted us to expect similar figures from 2005 for
For example, 2006 could see the same type of devastation...as 2005's final tally came out to one-hundred-and four billion dollars. Something else very interesting he mentioned.
We originally thought there were twenty-seven storms in 2005...there was actually twenty-eight. He went back and revisited some other storm systems and added an un-named subtropical system. There was however, one glimpse of hope for the upcoming storm season...and that came from forecaster Dr. William Gray.
Dr. William Gray, Renowned Hurricane Forecaster:"I would say the people in the southeast Florida Miami area of Tampa being hit is much less."
However, Dr. Gray wants to caution us that while the chance is small it's always still there. And as Max Mayfield has said many times it only takes one hurricane to hit your community...and you've had a bad year.

William Cohen - this is beautiful, too. He explains how generals are 'bound' to the 'orders' of the Commander and Chief and if they disagree with Bush, in this case, they should retire. So, in other words generals are supposed to be 'moral' above anyone else's morality. In their job description is the 'task' to internally struggle with the loyality to self after making it to rank as a general and loyal to the best interests of the nation.

Days before, only days before Bush DEMANDED the invasion of Iraq to go forward there was a general who confronted those demands of his job.

To get back to Michael Brown. Today CNN 'staged' an event on behalf of Michael Brown's negligence to the 'subject' he is of course an expert of. Hurricanes. See, St. Bernard Parish must have been offended by the fact Mr. Brown stayed on after his gross negligence. They were probably as enraged as therest of the nation at the 'idea' Michael Brown started aconsulting agency. So, Mr. Brown was sipposed to be in St. Bernard Parish today as aconsultant fro hire because he knwos all too well 'the 'red tape.'he experienced while the administrator of FEMA.
So, while Michael Brown was looking forward to greasing his palm with St. Bernard Parish public money, the town council went to Orlando for the Hurricane Conference. Realizing too late tha he was not at the opening of the conference, CNN 'staged a responsiblie 'moment' .with a Flashing screen behind him advertising "CNN Live" and Mr. Brown's 'product' of which the name isn't worth mentioning. He was positioned in front of a building and no one could see the sign because his basically 'immobile head never moved enough to know exactly where he was. It was 'risky' enough to believe he could have revealed his segment as a fraud if he just moved his head enough but he was well schooled enough. There was no one else from the convention ANYWHERE in the closely cropped picture. Now, I suppose St. Bernard Parish could have been set up for this scandal, but, I don't think so.

They were probably as enraged as therest of the nation at the 'idea' Michael Brown started aconsulting agency. So, Mr. Brown was sipposed to be in St. Bernard Parish today as aconsultant fro hire because he knwos all too well 'the 'red tape.'he experienced while the administrator of FEMA.
So, while Michael Brown was looking forward to greasing his palm with St. Bernard Parish public money, the town council went to Orlando for the Hurricane Conference. Realizing too late tha he was not at the opening of the conference, CNN 'staged a responsiblie 'moment' .with a Flashing screen behind him advertising "CNN Live" and Mr. Brown's 'product' of which the name isn't worth mentioning. He was positioned in front of a building and no one could see the sign because his basically 'immobile head never moved enough to know exactly where he was. It was 'risky' enough to believe he could have revealed his segment as a fraud if he just moved his head enough but he was well schooled enough. There was no one else from the convention ANYWHERE in the closely cropped picture. Now, I suppose St. Bernard Parish could have been set up for this scandal, but, I don't think so.

Booming oilfield tries to get handle on safety challenge

HOUSTON (MarketWatch) -- With oilfield accidents edging upward, according to some indicators, energy companies met here Tuesday to discuss techniques for maintaining safety amid an industry boom prompted by high commodity prices.
The event, hosted by International Quality and Productivity Centre, is the latest to respond to the increase in oilfield accidents that has accompanied the recent surge in oilfield activity.
U.S. drillers had 1,267 incidents that required medical treatment in 2005, up from 1,059 in 2004, according to data from the International Association of Drilling Contractors, a trade group. U.S. drillers saw increases in some other accident categories, although the number of fatalities - 11 - was an improvement over the 17 work-related deaths from the year before. U.S. drillers worked 6% more hours in 2005 than 2004, according to the IADC.
The conference focused in part on recruiting and retaining skilled employees to work in the oilfield. Executives from drilling concerns, Noble Corp. (NE) and Ensco International Inc. (ESV), have emphasized their training programs in investor presentations.
"We're getting a lot of new folks coming into the industry, and they're just not as well-trained," said Susan Burke, a vice president at Kerr-McGee Corp. (KMG), who chaired Tuesday's proceedings.
In addition to the problems associated with higher activity levels, energy companies cited the disarray from tropical storms in the Gulf of Mexico as a focus of efforts to redouble safety procedures. The storms raise numerous potential safety issues, including the time pressure to safely return to normal output levels if operations are suspended due to storm damage, said Austin, Texas safety consultant C. Dale Zinn.
Although the focus of the conference was on offshore activity, Tuesday's sessions also included an update from BP Plc. (BP) on its activities in the aftermath of a March 2005 explosion and fire at its Texas City refinery. BP has removed 89 temporary housing structures from oil and gas sites, said Michael Broadribb, a senior process consultant for BP. The Texas City accident was exacerbated by the presence of temporary trailers that housed the 15 people who died in the explosion. BP is reviewing its oilfield housing sites, Broadribb said.

It had never been my intent to go public with my personal experiences, including the fact that in August of 1956 I became a very proud American citizen. But first, let's go back to where my struggle for legal and permanent entry to the United States began.
It did not matter to the U.S. consulate in Frankfurt, Germany that I had during WWII aided the resistance against the German military occupation of Holland; that I had worked as a translator for U.S. Military Government of Germany from 1945 to 1950, with special emphasis on assisting in U.S.-led investigations preparatory to the second round of the Nurenberg War Crimes Tribunals. (I had at one time even interrogated infamous Ilse Koch of concentration camp notoriety.)
And it did not matter that I had a perfectly clean personal and criminal record -- I was listed as a quota immigrant, and I had American sponsors applying in person at the U. S. Consulate. It did not speed things up one iota.
...Now to the standard claim that Mexicans perform the work Americans will not do: if employers would pay American workers decent wages, Americans would not turn these jobs down. A perfect example exists right here in Volusia County where Mexicans do the hard grunt work, under often deplorable living conditions, for low wages. This is where the employers should be taken to account, but every government official seems to look the other way. It's a sweetheart arrangement all around.
President Bush's plan to legalize the status of illegals by offering them U.S. citizenship is absurd; it would be nothing but an open invitation to "come and get it." If we are to have a truly meaningful immigration reform, start with sealing our country's borders. And furthermore, stop handing out Green Cards and other residency documents as if they were coupons or trinkets found in a box of corn flakes.
I have a hunch the immigration issue will be a key factor in the next presidential election. But if President Bush has his way, we will have 12 million illegals voting the Republican ticket. Can we afford to let this happen?
Marchers at immigration rally demand justice, respect

DELAND -- The children who played jovially in a grassy area outside the Volusia County Courthouse did not know it, but the cries of their parents waving Mexican and American flags carried their hopes for a future in this country.
"It's for them that we're here," said 70-year-old Pascuala Villaneda, a legal resident who has been in the U.S. since 1986 but whose grandchildren are experiencing the hardships of being undocumented workers. "We have to support anything that would bring them out of the shadows."
Villaneda was part of about 1,500 demonstrators who demanded justice and respect in front of the new courthouse in downtown DeLand on Monday.

There is an interesting parrellel. There is a drop in the 'drop out' rate with the closing of the textile industry in North Carolina.
Does Anderson engage in an intelligent conversation regarding high school drop out rates? No. He talks about construction. Schools can't afford to maintain their buildings. Maybe Bush can come up with a spending bill to support such improvements. And while he and Rove are 'stimulating' the American Public to demand new school construction to 'improve' drop out rates maybe they can further cut back food stamps to make the kids really hungry for success.
There is a 'move' with the Medicare 'recertification' authority to scutinize the 'facilities' and demand changes costing upwards of $5 million to begin with to stimulate the country's economy. The corruption of this administration runs deep. This 'disrepair' emoting of the 'poor kids' who can't stand to be there is just more corruption of CNN and the USA.
The Medicare Recert of Hospitals and facilites is really laughable. They don't concentrate at all on the 'care' the patients get so much as how crowded the hallways are while calling any form of equipment left in one spot longer than 15 minutes as 'stored.' They are citing nearly every hospital in the country for using hallways outside patient rooms as storage.
15 mintes. A backup crash cart outside a patient room is sometimes there for 30 minutes or more as the supplies in the first cart is used IF it's a long code.
Hospitals are under attack just as any other 'essential' services are.
Get this.
Carts with supplies to isolation rooms in hospitals that have used all their negative pressure rooms are supposed to put the carts inside the 'contaminated' rooms. The inspectors know this is poor technique. They make these demands so hospitals will be forced to construct expensive 'Anti-Rooms' to the patient rooms. The other possiblity is the closing out of 'isolation' patients from hospital admissions. But, that might not be an option and still get paid Medicare dollars.
Bush is the worst and this show is nothing but their propaganda. They have gotten to be really bad. Really bad.
Missing credits no longer lead to Dropout Road
The bell had already rung for dismissal, yet Troy Roberson was still in class.
"I thought about dropping out. I just got sick and tired of coming to school," said Roberson, 18, a senior. "But I'm trying to graduate. I'm trying to do something with my life."
The state's dropout rate has declined slightly over the past two years, with a considerable decrease during the 2002-03 school year. And while the dropout rates in Edgecombe and Nash county schools have seen a decline, they have fluctuated.

President Bush's plan to legalize the status of illegals by offering them U.S. citizenship is absurd; it would be nothing but an open invitation to "come and get it." If we are to have a truly meaningful immigration reform, start with sealing our country's borders. And furthermore, stop handing out Green Cards and other residency documents as if they were coupons or trinkets found in a box of corn flakes.
I have a hunch the immigration issue will be a key factor in the next presidential election. But if President Bush has his way, we will have 12 million illegals voting the Republican ticket. Can we afford to let this happen?

"It's for them that we're here," said 70-year-old Pascuala Villaneda, a legal resident who has been in the U.S. since 1986 but whose grandchildren are experiencing the hardships of being undocumented workers. "We have to support anything that would bring them out of the shadows."
Villaneda was part of about 1,500 demonstrators who demanded justice and respect in front of the new courthouse in downtown DeLand on Monday.

There is an interesting parrellel. There is a drop in the 'drop out' rate with the closing of the textile industry in North Carolina.
Does Anderson engage in an intelligent conversation regarding high school drop out rates? No. He talks about construction. Schools can't afford to maintain their buildings. Maybe Bush can come up with a spending bill to support such improvements. And while he and Rove are 'stimulating' the American Public to demand new school construction to 'improve' drop out rates maybe they can further cut back food stamps to make the kids really hungry for success.
There is a 'move' with the Medicare 'recertification' authority to scutinize the 'facilities' and demand changes costing upwards of $5 million to begin with to stimulate the country's economy. The corruption of this administration runs deep. This 'disrepair' emoting of the 'poor kids' who can't stand to be there is just more corruption of CNN and the USA.
The Medicare Recert of Hospitals and facilites is really laughable. They don't concentrate at all on the 'care' the patients get so much as how crowded the hallways are while calling any form of equipment left in one spot longer than 15 minutes as 'stored.' They are citing nearly every hospital in the country for using hallways outside patient rooms as storage.
15 mintes. A backup crash cart outside a patient room is sometimes there for 30 minutes or more as the supplies in the first cart is used IF it's a long code.
Hospitals are under attack just as any other 'essential' services are.
Get this.
Carts with supplies to isolation rooms in hospitals that have used all their negative pressure rooms are supposed to put the carts inside the 'contaminated' rooms. The inspectors know this is poor technique. They make these demands so hospitals will be forced to construct expensive 'Anti-Rooms' to the patient rooms. The other possiblity is the closing out of 'isolation' patients from hospital admissions. But, that might not be an option and still get paid Medicare dollars.
Bush is the worst and this show is nothing but their propaganda. They have gotten to be really bad. Really bad.

The bell had already rung for dismissal, yet Troy Roberson was still in class.
"I thought about dropping out. I just got sick and tired of coming to school," said Roberson, 18, a senior. "But I'm trying to graduate. I'm trying to do something with my life."

I'm going to pass on commentary tonight.
When your president admits openly, while running an investigation for 'leaks' in his administration on taxpayers money, that he 'declassified' documents for the sole purpose to discredit the very Ambassador he sent to NIger to validate or not Yellowcake sold to Iraq; you can safely call it a bad day.
Just a comment about Duke University and it's LaCrosse Team. They might have pictures but there is no telling when those pictures were actually taken. The camera could be 'set' to any date and time. I know I can change mine.

This is a little dated by it pays Aaron great compliments by the Christian side of news broadcasting.
To be honest, it seems to me all the programs now at CNN have dropped in ratings and it isn't because FOX News has gotten better, it's because Aaron Brown isn't anchoring anymore. No one at CNN ever thought Aaron literally floated the other shows with an overshadowing of expertise as Managing Editor.
I heard Jeff Greenfield on the Don Imus Show today. He was very different than most of his dialogues on CNN. He is starting up a former PBS show starring Corporate Executives, their style, their story. Sounded pretty good. I don't know all of what goes on behind the scenes at CNN but I don't believe letting Aaron Brown go on vacation for the rest of his contract was a wise move.
If you ever read this Aaron. Enjoy the attention a fan who identifies himself as a Christian applauded you since you were at ABC.

Brown is a rare bird in television these days: he is a journalist and a fine one at that. His character and intellect remind you of Murrow or Cronkite.
There was a winter several years ago that I worked overnight shifts at a youth shelter. Most of those nights – when all the kids where asleep – I’d go through paperwork and watch the overnight news program that Brown anchored for ABC. It was then I became a fan of this former Seattle newsman.
Television news and how it is delivered has always been important to me.
One of my favorite activities as a kid was to hang out on Saturdays at the television news rooms in the stations my father worked for. My dad, who worked as a news anchor and later producer, often worked on weekends and would sometime let me tag along.
Growing up around television reporters – and later being interview by them because of my work on issues of homelessness – helped develop a sense for me of what is good journalism and what is entertainment dressed up as journalism. No one would question that entertainment is valued today more highly that serious news.
Brown, however, has always delivered the news and apparently CNN’s new management doesn’t consider that worth the investment. In his interviews he presses the spin masters so prevalent in politics for the facts behind the spin. And he does so in this homespun conversational kind of style that isn’t arrogant or off-putting. His program at CNN – which I often enjoyed watching – valued substance over flash. I don’t know a thing about his politics but his character as a journalist has always been evident.
I hope another network has the good sense to hire him again – and soon. Television news needs people like him.

I sincerely haven't heard any SINCERE debate in the Senate regarding the issues of immigration. I know all too well this Senate and House has passed bills that amount to empty paragraphs with spending plans rather than substance of law. I cannot fathom this Senate is capable of serious legislation. I would have to hear a good synopsis of the bill before I would trust anything brought forward by Republicans.
Rumsfeld should resign. The scandals never stop. And there are 110 per week wounded soldiers out of Iraq. That is NOT a successful campaign. The only reason this war hasn't topped the body count of Vietnam is because of body armor. So now they simply come home with missing limbs rather than flag drapped coffins. The death rate without body armor would have ended this war a long time ago.

I want Aaron back.
CNN finally posted Roberts credentials. I am sorry. I am sure he is a nice man but he isn't Aaron. The experience Mr. Brown had before CNN was extensive, but, the experience he carried forward with his anchoring was extensive including 911 and leading a news team from Ache after the tsunami. Aaron is no slouch.
John Roberts credentials. The information is somewhat specific but mostly statements about general trends in his career.
I will say this. He is an improvement over Cooper.
The coverage of the tragedy was NOT emoted so much as 'matter of fact.' If people are caught up in emotions it is difficult to motivate for change so much as protection. There needs to be drastic change in the policy regarding Global Warming by the USA. Those words are still not used in this context. The 'exacerbation of 'the numbers' as reported was great. But, people still don't make the connection to the danger linked to high levels of carbon dioxide unless the language is there.

Tom DeLay is no surprise for the level of corruption he inspired with the K Street Gang. The crimes don't stop there but extends through a majority of the Republican Party. We need our country back. We need it back now.

The comments follow moves by Greenpeace and the Environmental Justice Foundation, in cooperation with enforcement authorities from Guinea, to expose pirate-fishing vessels off the West African coast, that are laundering their cargo through European ports.
In a joint operation on board the Greenpeace ship M.Y Esperanza the environmental and human rights organisations have been operating undercover documenting nearly 70 vessels in West African waters for the past ten days.

TOKYO (Reuters) - Installing radiation detectors at Japanese ports to thwart the chance of nuclear attacks should be made a priority as part of greater Asian shipping security, U.S. Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff said on Tuesday.
Global port security came under renewed scrutiny earlier this month when a U.S. political furore over possible national security threats forced a Dubai company to abandon plans to manage U.S. ports.
Washington is particularly concerned about whether nuclear bombs or radioactive material could be smuggled into the United States in one of the 7 million to 9 million containers that enter the country's 361 ports each year, prompting a U.S. project to install radiation detectors at global ports.
Other countries have been slow to take part, however, with many fearing the screening could slow commerce at their ports.
Chertoff, in Tokyo on an Asian trip that will also take him to Singapore, Hong Kong and Beijing, lauded Japan's participation in other U.S.-led shipping security efforts but said it had yet to agree to the radiation screening.
"I want to really push, to make it an urgent item to take action on, partly because we have succeeded in concluding agreement with other major ports around the world and I don't think that shippers in Japan want to feel they're competitively disadvantaged," he told reporters.

The coverage of the tragedy was NOT emoted so much as 'matter of fact.' If people are caught up in emotions it is difficult to motivate for change so much as protection. There needs to be drastic change in the policy regarding Global Warming by the USA. Those words are still not used in this context. The 'exacerbation of 'the numbers' as reported was great. But, people still don't make the connection to the danger linked to high levels of carbon dioxide unless the language is there.

A TOP lawyer for Microsoft says the software maker achieved a "breakthrough" at hearings with European Union regulators in its effort to comply with a 2004 anti-trust ruling and avoid daily fines of $US2 million ($2.7 million).Microsoft says it has a better understanding of how to meet the regulator's demands after two days of closed meetings.
"I'm very optimistic about the new opportunity that we now have," Microsoft general counsel Brad Smith told reporters in Brussels. "It finally gives us the specificity and clarity that we need to work in a constructive way."
Microsoft is fighting EU anti-trust charges that it abused the dominance of Windows, used in more than 90 per cent of the world's personal computers, in order to shut competitors out of the market. The regulator, which levied a record €497 million ($837 million) fine, also ordered the company to licence to rivals data on the way Windows communicates over a network.

Morgan Stanley Chief Executive Officer John Mack blamed President Bush for problems faced by DP World as it tried to buy the U.S. assets of the U.K.'s Peninsular & Oriental Steam Navigation Co.
''If the administration had taken more time to vet the transaction, DP World would not have had these issues,'' Mack said Monday at a news conference in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

U.S. senators including Charles Schumer and Hillary Clinton blocked a deal approved in January by the Bush administration for DP World to gain control of six U.S container-ship terminals including New York, Miami and New Orleans. Owned by the Maktoum family who rule Dubai, DP World acquired management leases at the ports when it bought U.K.-based P&O for $6.8 billion on March 2.
The decision may affect trade and investment flows between the United States and the Persian Gulf, where record oil earning have triggered an economic boom. ''It's not a wise decision on their part,'' U.A.E. central bank governor Sultan bin Nasser al-Suwaidi said in a March 6 Bloomberg interview.
The U.A.E., Kuwait, Saudi Arabia and the three other oil- producing Gulf Arab monarchies' crude oil sales rose 24 percent last year $270 billion, according to figures from Standard Chartered Plc.
Mack was in the Emirates to open Morgan Stanley's first regional office in the Middle East. The world's third largest securities firm is bringing 24 bankers to Dubai as it seeks to tap the region's wealth.
Mack said he plans to meet Schumer next week when he will suggest the New York Democrat come to Dubai in person. ''Americans have to spend time visiting these new emerging markets,'' he said.
Schumer was a leading critic of the DP World deal and led a bipartisan group of U.S. lawmakers who asked the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States to investigate the purchase.
Speaking at a news conference in New York on March 10 he said he opposed the deal not ''because they're an Arab country, but because they're a nexus of terrorism.''

Dubai ports row claims new scalp
WASHINGTON, March 27 (UPI) -- The fallout from the derailment by Congress of the Dubai Ports World deal continued Monday, as a company executive withdrew from a controversial nomination.
David Sanborn, nominated in January by President Bush to head the U.S. Maritime Administration, which oversees the nation's ports, is director of operations in Europe and Latin America for the firm, which is owned by the Emirate of Dubai.
Monday the White House said it was withdrawing the nomination, which several senators, including Democrat Bill Nelson of Florida, had vowed to block.
White House spokeswoman Erin Healy told United Press International the withdrawal was at Sanborn's request, which came in a letter to the president Monday.
She would not comment as to whether the move was connected with the successful efforts to block the proposed take-over by the Gulf state-owned company of six U.S. port operations.

Cyclone Glenda Shuts Ports, Oil Fields in Australia (Update3)
March 29 (Bloomberg) -- The fourth tropical cyclone of the year off northwestern Australia strengthened to a category 5 storm, shutting down iron-ore export ports and oil fields as well as interrupting loading of liquefied natural gas cargoes.
Tropical Cyclone Glenda shut Dampier Port and Port Walcott at Cape Lambert, Vic Justice, harbor master at Dampier Port Authority, said today. Port Hedland was also closed this morning. BHP Billiton, the North West Shelf venture, Woodside Petroleum Ltd., Chevron Corp. and Santos Ltd. have all closed oil fields.
The northwest region of Australia is forecast to have about five tropical cyclones this November-April season, which is about the average, the Bureau of Meteorology said last month. Rio Tinto Group, the world's second-largest iron ore exporter, said yesterday its West Australian iron ore mines may have lost more than 20 percent of output this quarter. About 147,000 barrels a day of oil output has been halted.
``This is a seasonal thing, we tend to get lower production and shipments in the first quarter so the market won't be too concerned about it,'' said Mark Pervan, head of research at Daiwa Securities SMBC in Melbourne. ``The disruptions do seem to have been a bit larger than normal this time.''
Glenda, which has maximum wind gusts of as much as 290 kilometers (180 miles) an hour, was 435 kilometers north- northeast of Karratha at 8 a.m. local time today and moving west-southwest at 12 kilometers an hour, the bureau said. The cyclone is forecast to move toward the coast later today.
Very Large Seas
``We're expecting the cyclone to pass very close to us if not adjacent to the port,'' Justice said in an interview. ``We would expect very large seas inside the port, maybe 10-meter (33 feet) seas coming down through the main entrance into the port, extremely strong winds and a considerable amount of rain.''
Rio Tinto may have lost as much as 6 million metric tons of output this quarter at its Western Australian iron ore mines because of cyclones, Warwick Smith, managing director of expansion at Rio's iron ore unit said yesterday.
BHP Billiton has lost about 475,000 tons of output this quarter, Daiwa's Pervan said.
``From a share price point of view the impact is probably mixed to slightly positive because it gives the iron ore producers a bit more leverage in the iron ore price negotiations,'' Pervan said.
Steelmakers in China, the largest user of iron ore, may accept as much as a 10 percent increase in annual contract prices this year for the steelmaking raw material, two Chinese steel industry officials said yesterday.
Preparations
Rio Tinto declared force majeure after cyclones dumped rain and disrupted mining at its West Australian mines March 2. Force majeure is a legal clause that allows a company to miss contracted deliveries because of circumstances beyond its control.
``Any impact the cyclones have had on production we'd be looking to make that up during the course of the year,'' said Katina Dawson, a Perth-based spokeswoman at Rio Tinto.
The Woodside-operated North West Shelf venture halted production at the Cossack Pioneer oil vessel late yesterday and the ship has sailed away, Kirsten Stoney, a spokeswoman for Perth-based Woodside said. The Karratha Spirit used to store oil at the Ocean Legend production facility at the Legendre field has also sailed out of the path of the cyclone.
Natural gas, liquefied natural gas and condensates production is continuing, Stoney said. Loadings of LNG have been interrupted at Karratha, she said.
Evacuation
Chevron Corp., which operates oil production systems on Barrow and Thevenard Island, is closing down output and will evacuate all personnel by 2 p.m. local time today, said Scott Walker, a spokesman for the U.S. company's Australian unit. Santos and Exxon Mobil Corp. have stakes in the ventures. Barrow Island typically produces about 10,000 barrels a day of oil, while Thevenard Island produces about 4,000 barrels a day.
BHP Billiton spokeswoman Emma Meade said the production vessel the company uses at its Griffin oil field is unable to connect to the field because of bad weather. Griffin, in which Exxon Mobil and Inpex Corp. have stakes, produced about 4 million barrels of oil and 5.9 billion cubic feet of gas in the year ended June 30. BHP Billiton is the world's biggest mining company and Australia's largest oil and gas producer.
Adelaide-based Santos, Australia's biggest natural gas producer, halted production at its A$440 million ($313 million) Mutineer-Exeter oil project March 27, its fourth shutdown this year due to a cyclone. The field, in which Nippon Oil Corp., Kuwait Foreign Petroleum Exploration Co. and Woodside have stakes, was producing about 50,000 barrels a day before the shutdown, said Kathryn Mitchell, a spokeswoman.
Western Australia produced about 210,000 barrels a day of oil in 2004, since which time Mutineer-Exeter has started up.

The experience of the people of this storm is important. "The bathtub protection" is not a new story. Tornadoes toss rocks around but don't break them up. In other words, the porcelain is a rock. So the bathtub might be picked up and moved with the tornado but it stays intact along with the person in it. I have heard of entire families huddled in bricked entrance ways to homes living through a direct hit from tornadoes. No one survives a F5 or F6 tornado. They are over 250 miles per hour. An F6 is over 320 mph. Something like that. There is just no way that force will allow skin to stay intact. NASCARS never get over 200 mph, not because engines can't take cars faster in circles around tracks but because the human body can't tolerate the G forces of higher speeds and the crashes that results. So, surviving a tornado is also due to the level of TORNADIC force.

Unsecure ports of entry
OUR OPINION: MUCH WORK REMAINS TO BE DONE TO FIX HOLES IN U.S. SAFETY NET
While Congress was engaged in the hysterical debate over foreign ownership of U.S. ports, something much more dangerous was taking place in America's vulnerable ports of entry. As disclosed yesterday at a congressional hearing, federal investigators were able to smuggle enough radioactive material into the United States last year to make two dirty bombs.
The General Accountability Office is the investigative arm of Congress. In a test in December, undercover GAO teams managed to sneak small amounts of cesium-137 across U.S. border crossing points in Washington State and Texas. Radiation alarms went off, but security inspectors were fooled by phony documents and allowed the material through.
The Bush administration responded by saying that within 45 days it will give U.S. Customs and Border Protection agents the tools to verify false documents in the future. That's of little comfort, considering that we are now well into the fifth year after 9/11 and such gaps could be exploited by terrorists -- without much effort, apparently.
And the GAO had even worse news for Congress: The Homeland Security Department's goal of installing 3,034 radiation detectors by September 2009 at ports of entry across the United States is ''unlikely,'' leaving a huge blind spot on our borders for years to come.
Congress should use the GAO findings to show its true terrorist-fighting credentials. It should act now to move up the 2009 deadline and insist that the administration tighten security at all U.S. ports and entry points. If lawmakers were quick to overturn the Dubai deal, they should be even more eager to deal with the far greater threat posed by real holes in America's security net.

If American firms are having difficulty obtaining interests in AMERICAN ports then the federal government needs to supplement the interaction in a way that works for the acquiring American company. It can come out of the USA military budget !
AB Ports Rejects $3.8 Bln Bid From Goldman, Singapore (Update1)
March 29 (Bloomberg) -- Associated British Ports Holdings Plc, the biggest U.K. operator of ports, rejected a 2.2 billion-pound offer ($3.8 billion) from Goldman Sachs Group Inc., Singapore and a Canadian pension fund.
The offer of 730 pence a share was ``wholly inadequate,'' London-based Associated British Ports said in a statement on the U.K.'s Regulatory News Service, after markets closed. Shares of the company today fell 1.9 percent to 717 pence.
The Goldman-led group said March 27 it may bid for Associated British Ports, which owns 21 ports in the U.K. and handles car imports at four U.S. ports. Dubai's DP World in March bought Peninsular & Oriental Steam Navigation Co., the U.K.'s oldest port company, for $6.8 billion, and was later forced to sell U.S. operations because of lawmakers' security concerns.
New York-based Goldman bid as part of a group including Borealis Infrastructure Management Inc., a unit of the Ontario Municipal Employees Retirement Fund, Canada's No. 4 pension fund; and GIC Special Investments, the private-equity unit of GIC, an investment company owned by the government of Singapore.
Port operators are attracting takeovers as growth in the volume of world trade lifts earnings, and their ability to generate steady returns lures investors. Associated British Ports, which says it handles about 25 percent of Britain's seaborne trade, owns an operation in the U.S. that handles car imports at four ports including Baltimore and Jacksonville, Florida. The company's U.S. operations contributed 4.3 million pounds of 167.6 million pounds of operating profit in 2005.
The company on Feb. 22 forecast that earnings at its U.K. ports business will accelerate in the second half of this year after the opening of two new facilities at the port of Immingham, on the northeast coast of England.
